Theatre was called the Earl when I used to attend in the late sixties. Name changed to the City Line Cinema in the early 70’s. Admission at that time was $1.50 for a double feature. Theatre ended its life as an XXX house in late ‘76 early '77. Spot became retail.

I just found an ad from August of 1976 and the theatre was called Cityline Cinema. They were playing “Food of the Gods” and “Devil Within Her”.

It is very possible that this theatre remained open another ten years as a XXX theatre which would not show in my listings.

Ah ok then it must have been the late 70’s. I know I was working at The Haven at the time. I started there in 1978 so it must have been then or ‘79.

This theatre may have closed but it opened again because I was there one time in the early 80’s. At the time it was called City Line Cinema. It ended when it went on fire. At the time it was playing 2nd run double bills. Prior to that it spent time as a Spanish and XXX house. When it was first was converted to retail it housed an Odd Lot, I am not sure what is there now.

I find that the Earl Theatre opened in the early 30’s as the City Line Theatre, becoming the Earl Theatre around 1940 and closing in 1969.
