A Moller organ, opus 3346, was installed in this theater in 1922.

Star Wars is opening at the Moorlyn Wed evening at midnight. Ths Strand 5 is also open
The original single screen Moorlyn Theatre is listed in Film Daily Yearbooks with a seating capacity of 1,750.
Hey i heard the moorlyn is getting Starwars ep 3
does anyone know if they will have a midnight show?
but we all know who the best manager you ever had was, right?
i tell you what i thought stuff over and i will promise to come back
if the franks get rid of that bitch Brittany.
She is the worse manager i ever had.
This was still a pretty big place as a twin.

What are they doing to the Strandm making stadium seating? Frank theaters ruined that theater years ago when they made 5 theaters out of that beautiful single auditorium. They did the same thing to all the theaters in Wildwood, NJ. When I worked for them back in 1976 they sucked.
the strand is being renovated.
still
5 screens
i guess they open in early april or may
but the morlyun is open
besides about the “fireball” sound
i still can’t believe i got stopped by a cop for that.
Is the Strand still open or did they close for the winter. I know since they made it 5 theaters ( and ruined it) they stayed open all year round
Oh yes, there are 767 seats in the Moorlyn 4, and the chain is Frank Family Theatres.
JesseT- when are you coming back to do the fireball? We miss you over here. AND… something I forgot to say, you can also come here to set up a birthday party. Just ask for Brittany or Tom, and we’ll hook something up for you. Later!
Everyone who thinks that the Moorlyn 4 is awesome should post on the shoobies.com site- someone on there gave this theatre some grief. Oh, and about birthday parties, group tix, etc, you can go on the website (franktheatre.com) for info and numbers to call to set stuff like that up. Seriously, though, the employee that posted was right- if people don’t go to the movies here, the theatre will close. And the reason that the movies there aren’t that great is because they have no business and the film companies won’t open pictures in theatres that have no customers. So, if you want the theatre to stay open, and you want to see the new movies, come as often as possible.
thanks andyt
i only speak the truth about this theatre.
i believe the more people know about something nice they may actually try it out and like it.
If people know nothing about nice places they simply don’t go.
As far as enthusiasm one boss told me once i had a little too much enthusiasm. I did not agree with them but i shut up.
But there have been times i have gone overboard. I get a little loud sometimes. As far as next summer i have no clue dude but i hope to be back.
It is just great to know that there are sites like this that exist to let the people know about theatres both then and now.
A friend of mine rode by the Somers point theatre the other day and they said the theatre in that city was gone.
Another reason that this website is great.
I never went there but i heard nice stuff about it.
Oh get this i heard the moorlyn had a promotion
last weekend.
O.C.H.S. WEEKEND
They were giving away popcorn to students from that school who showed their ID.
Man i hope they keep that s—– up. Stuff like that bring kids out.
But then again did u see the list of movies they have?/had?!!!?….
later
Jesset—-thank you for sharing your information on the Moorlyn. I wish everyone in the theater business had your enthusiasm. Keep it up — I’m sure you are an important part of a great movie-going experience. See you next summer!
THey also might be called the Towne Stadium Megaplex.
Oh and I hear the Morlyn gives the birthday kids there name in the Marque for free.
Wow what a birthday gift that is.
They can tell everyone they were the star at the theatre that day.
yes they do birthday parties
but you have to go and/or call the corporate office
in eht/pleastantville
if you go into the theatre the management at the moorlyn
should have the numbers and the names of the people you need to make arangements with.
Some parties can be made before the theatre opens.
A real private movie party.
the “mother” theatre for the Frank Theatres i beleive
is at and near the shore mall.
Known as the Towne 16 theatre or Towne Stadium 16.
The corporate office is out there.
They also have Group discount tickets.
Does anyone know if they do birthday parties? I am trying to come up with something for a 10 year old girl party the end of Feb.
This is a great theater and I hope they stay open year round—its easy to get to from Somers Point and less hassle then going through EHT to get to one of the other ones. We love the seating and the workers are very nice.

cocession sales help
if just by a ticket alone
that is good but not enough if you buy one item at 3 bucks or less you are helping to keep the place open.
tht is all i can say on that.
here are the things i like right now about the moorlyn 4
box office is now inside for the winter
you no longer have to around and back it is all inside.
free parking not the lot right behind the theatre that is from what i hear is private parking and with out a permit you can be towed by the city at your expense plus the fine for parking ilegally.
the city itself has municipal lots that they charge during the summer but during the winter it is free.
many meters have had the change machine taken away. so those spots are free too.
stadium seating
get the perfect view of your movie the first time and every time.
dts sound – the state of the art sound system
not only can you see a movie but you can feel it too.

Just like a couch that two people can sit together on.
arcade a must see
booster seats – great for the kids that can’t see so great and it is all free
handicaped acessable – bring your wheel chair, lark chairs, scooters right into the theatre. You no longer have to “park it” again.

What in know is?
the theatre is owned by Frank Theatres
most of what use to be the building before is gone
but some remaind and from that point it was rebuilt with all new construction.
on week ends the first movie is around 12 noon or a little after
i hear they are open year round
Address of the theater is now 835 Moorlyn Terrace, Ocean City NJ 08226. The entrance to the theater has been moved around to the south side of the auditorium, fronting on a ramp that conects the Boardwalk to the street. The building that replaced the old lobby on the Boardwalk proper contains the box office (as well as stores and condos), but no entry to the theater; you buy your tickets and walk around a corner to get in. The big marquee is history; there’s sort of a mini-marquee above the box office, with a small vertical and a flush-mounted now-showing sign at the entrance.
Shows up on Yahoo’s movie listings as the Frank Theatres Moorlyn 4; ads in the Press of Atlantic City are calling it the Moorlyn Stadium 4. The original theater was at least partially demolished two or three years ago; the lobby area and adjoining retail space on the Boardwalk were torn down, revealing an old sign advertising the long-gone Shore Fast Line trolley to Atlantic City (the sign was removed and given to the city’s historical museum for preservation). The old auditorium was still standing at that point; I haven’t been up there recently so I don’t know if the original auditorium was kept and renovated or replaced with new construction.
