Is there a way to suggest new info for the overview blurb? The theater was torn down a few years ago to make room for the new Sears building at that end of the mall. Incidentally, I never was in this when it was a single-screen. As a two-screener I can remember seeing Batman here in 1989 and I think I might have alos seen Start Trek III here.

I loved this theater when it was a one-screen, but after it was chopped up, it completly lost its attraction. Originally, It wasn’t a very old type of theater, it seemed modern and a fair screen size, and nice seats. It also had a good, deep, multi-channel sound system, which was highlighted when 2001: A Space Odyssey ran there, which I saw a few times at the theater. It was chopped into halves, and we were left with the choice of two shoeboxes. It closed and the lobby turned into a budget clothing shop, I don’t know what it’s function is presently.
The 1966 annual report of Loew’s Theatres has an artist’s rendering of this theatre, which it expected to open the following year.
The caption reads: “Rendering of Loew’s new 1,200 seat theatre in the South Shore Mall of Bayshore, L. I., where Macy’s and J. C. Penney are major neighbors.” It looks like the original name was to be “Loew’s Bayshore”.
plans for a 10 plex being redone to a 16 plex on this old loews site
