The large “awning” was removed from the building when the theater closed, and converted to a shoe store. I was an employee here from 1977-1983 (assistant manager for the last few years). During that time, it was a single-screen theater having 1236 seats.

The theater has now been converted into a retail shoe store. Nothing remains to indicate it ever was a theater.

I never actually got into the Morton Grove but twice tried to back in 1976 when it was still a single screen. Their Christmas picture was “King Kong” and both times I tried to get in you couldn’t even get near the place.

I saw Paul Newman’s “The Verdict” here back in the early 80’s when it was just one or two screens.
