Franklin, TN is one of the greatest places on earth. Beautiful, laid back, and nice as all get outs. I long to reside there again.
Saw the same thing on the news tonight.The new marquee is to be a replica of the 1930 marquee,also they are to release a reopening date this weekend.Will update when I have more info.

Got an e-mail today saying that the new marquee was lit up for the first time last night.
I am going to drive down there and check it out when they reopen.

Recieved an e-mail from Nancy Williams at the Franklin Cinema,she said the theatre is under heavy constrution and plans to reopen Spring 2011.
Just looked at their website,asking for donations,you can get a piece of the theatre curtain framed for $40.00 any takers?
Any new word on this Cinema reopening? Maybe Patsy will throw in some money to help. I saw something on the news a few months back but haven’t heard anything else.

What great little theatre. I would love to visit it if it was closer to EAST TENN.
Problem is Patsy that the people who live there do not like to let loose of their $$$$$$ ,maybe thats why they have so much.I do know.
Perhaps someone will step up and reopen it…all it takes is $ and if there is a lot of $ in Franklin…shouldn’t be a problem. And I hope that when and if it reopens the art deco theatre will return to a single screen venue!
Drove by the movie house many times,I do not remember going in,I wish I had now.There is a lot of MONEY in Frankiln,Tennessee maybe someone will step up and reopen this place.

I ran movies here once in awhile to help them out, what a nice theatre and yet was kind of strange to see it go so fast, and in the midst of all the money floating around the area.Bitch all you want,you did nothing to save it.

Are there any interior photos of this art deco theatre? The Save the Franklin site shows the original art deco marquee that needs to be returned to this theatre exterior, imo. As a sidenote, I think there is a recording studio near Franklin called Dark Horse?

“FranklinBlah” I am not quite sure what you are talking about- or if you know what you are talking about. The restorations plans are in place and nothing is being ‘trashed’. The Heritage Franklin stepped in and purchased the Theatre so that you will be able to return there and watch a movie and drink a beer! The thing to remember is that the previous business model was bad- clearly- since they went out of business. So restoring the theatre to its original glory and reopening it as a multi-use entertainment venue that shows movies, concerts, etc. is simply making better use of the facility while having a viable business model. visit www.savethefranklintheatre.org
What do you mean by “trash it”? What plans are you aware of?
They are going to trash everything that was ever good about the Franklin Cinema. Pizza, beer, a place to prop your feet up, and a place to watch a MOVIE! Not to mention a draw to shop downtown beforehand and get dinner afterward.
Is the Boiler Room straining to keep up with demand or something?
What did I expect from a town that demolished a historic Raymond Loewy building to build a dirt lot?
