Only 4 days left till the grand re-opening of the Succasunna theatre…can’t wait to see “Saw II” there! Still checking the website, and it’s still on track for this weekend unless the heavy rain and wind make the theatre go poof!

Just to let you know, plans are still underway for a 16-screen theatre to replace both the Route 4 and Route 17 theatres once it opens sometime in the future.

Saw the theatre right across from Shop-Rite, and boy, they are busy doing work on it; they even boarded up the theatre to disguise its identity.

Some of the theatres I saw in the old ad are still around, particulary the Succasunna cinema 10 (in the Atlantic City ad) and the chester theatre. Many of the other theatres, especially the Rockaway theatre and Amboy, are gone. I liked both Totowa theatres, especially the old GC theatre. Last movie Isaw there was the rocketteer.

Saw Elizabeth town in the big theatre, and boy, it is my favorite of all the theatres! Seating that reminds me of the Loews Wayne theatre, and all around Dolby Digital surround sound and a medium-sized picture. Plenty of seats, too!

So when will the theatre be reopened? I guess maybe next month.

With the heavy rain that came yesterday, any news that the reopening of the Cinema 10 might be delayed? I guess not.

I agree, John. Cinema 10 got an upgrade, why not Cinema 12? I suggest you send an email to Johannes Hoffman, the guy who does the renovations for some of the CLearview Cinemas, including Cinema 10, to repair the Parsippany cinema. I’ll be there next weekend to see Elizabethtown.

Went to see “Corpse Bride” in the rain, and a big chunk of the front sidewalk near the entrace is flooded out witha big puddle! That should be fixed in awhile; it was packed, but the theatre was number 5 with digital surround sound and a decent picture.

Just to let you know, the new cinema will open sometime in late summer of next year, according to the Star Ledger.

I was wondering if the new theatre will have digital projection like the newer theatres as well as all the digital surround sound formats like SDDS-8, DTS-ES, and Dolby Digital EX as well as THX sound. Can’t wait! The only thing close to this new theatre was the Mansfield theatre in Hackettstown.

In the papers, the theatre is listed as “closed for renovations”, which is good news for the old cinema.

Out of all those movies, Star Trek was a crowd pleaser!

Looks like I’m wrong….“The Corpse Bride” is not playing in Succasunna; just last week’s movies are still playing at this theatre, which will close next week until a month later for renovations (weather permitting)….the closest theatre I could think of is Parsippany and MOrristown and Chester. “Flightplan” is not playing there either….too bad. MIght go to Mansfield, but that’s too far away.

moviebuff82 commented about AMC Dine-In Bridgewater 7 on Sep 24, 2005 at 3:20 am

Just came back from my respite and went to Bridgewater Commons to see Emily Rose. It was in theatre #2, the THX auditorium, and the sound was good, the picture was fine, but the seating needs improvement. No stadium seating or rocking back chairs unlike other theatres, but it offers access to those who are disabled (with wheelchairs) and an excellent digital pre-show before the movie. A decent theatre, indeed.

This theatre used to be owned by the same company that owned the Essex Green and CLifton Commons cinema. When did it open and did it have stadium seating? I think it is one of three AMC/GC locations that has the THX auditoriums, since I’m going on a respite near Bridgewater.

Last chance to see “Corpse Bride” in the theatre before shutting down…must see that movie before the plex closes….will miss Elizabethtown, Lord of War, and other good fall movies there until the holiday season, when giant gorillas, wizards, and magical lions come to the theatre!

The last time I went to this small theatre was “The Hunted”,a so-so movie that had a little crowd, two years ago. This theatre has survived many multiplexes and home theatres to become a favorite mostly for seniors who want to go see movies in the theatre rather on the small screen. The first time I went to this theatre (I believe it was “The Land Before Time”, which was a good kids movie). Some of the movies that were packed were “Twister”, “Space Jam”, and “The Santa Clause”. Theatre 1 and 2 are the largest auditoriums with DTS (1) and Dolby Digital EX (2) surround sound and decent projection.

The last time I went to this theatre, I saw “Apollo 13” more than 10 years ago, before it became a Clearview Cinema. The sound was OK, but the picture was good and the crowd reasonable. Now that this theatre plays a mix of indie and pop films (some of which would play on two screens), I can’t believe it’s still open!

I thought the theatre would reopen in November of this year; when will the theatre close for renovations? I can’t wait to check out the new and improved succasunna theatre since I would go to the more popular Parsipppany theatre (which is huge).

The first time I went to this theatre to see “Wedding Crashers” (which was shown in Theatre 3, a small theatre with Dolby Stereo surround sound), it was packed and the crowd was laughing. The picture was pretty good, but the lobby was humongous and the parking lot is pretty big. It’s a pretty convienient location to go to when the nearby Succasunna theatre closes for renovations. The lobby looks like something out of a Regal Cinema with large widescreen TVs showing previews. THere is also a large arcade room as well.

I went to see Must Love dogs in theatre 6, and although the auditorium had surround sound, the movie and the ads and trailers wasn’t in surround sound. The picture was OK. The movie ran a little late (previews included). But I got a freebie upon buying the tickets, a promotional CD for Old Navy’s back to school line-up. Maybe this is a promotion to get people back into the theatre during this slow and downtrend year? Most moviegoers at this theatre are kids and their families, and the two movies that are popular are Charlie and the CHocolate Factory and March of the Penguins. The latter movie is playing in one of the upper auditoriums, so I"ll wait for the dvd. As for the construction that’s going on by the cinema, are they building something? I would like to know, since that might be an extension of the theatre when it re-opens in the fall after a brief closing in October (according to a news release on Clearview’s website). I hope the revamped Succasunna Cinema will be better than its old self.
