Joe: Several years ago I received a brochure from T. Dusty Dillion The Whatever Works. In the brochure, it has several pictures of the Crest. I especially like the picture of the lobby/concession area. You really do beautiful work. Being that I live in Pennsylvania it makes it hard to see your art deco designs at Ruby’s Restaurants or the Silver Fox Lounge. In the future I would like to make the trip to meet you and view a screening of your accomplishments.-John
Mr. Musil: I understand from reading the above that you were the designer on the El Capitan. Didn’t you also do work on the Crest theater on Westwood Blvd. in Los Angeles?
if you read closely Longisland…Jack Ferry did give his age, which was 41. RG didn’t. Why do you refuse to tell me your age? If you started in the movie business at age 15 you must now be, what all but maybe 22
Joel Weide you said “I take it Dan Sperry has NEVER OWNED a movie theatre before!” and longislandmovies echoed it with laughter. May I ask what your qualifications are when it comes to the movie theatre business?
I watched the A&E program Breakfast with the Arts. I enjoyed very much seeing the Loews King and Jersey theaters. I do have one question. Will the marquee on the Jersey be restored to what is shown on the vintage picture on this page? I hope that that is listed on the “to do ” list.
If you want to see a few pictures of the Texas go to… www.cinematour.com . Great looking theater calc!!! Would like to see some interior pictures of the lobby and how Untied Artist screwed it up. Would you please post some. GOOD LUCK CALC!!!!!
minnieseesaw, thanks for the postive and uplifting comment. Jen, go to the website www.125aday.com . You can purchase a business plan on a movie theater and you can also purchase a marketing plan as well. I found that website while doing a google search on business plans for movie theaters. Good Luck with your endevor.
thank you Warren. I took that out of the Parade section of my sunday newspaper. It is titled History Happened Here. I thought it would be an interesting piece for the Ritz theater page. again thanks for your insight.
a bit of historical significants: Where We First Loved Lucy. Lucy Ball already was a successful actress when she married Desi Arnaz, a handsome Cuban bandleader. But she confessed she was petrified when, on Dec. 17, 1941, she and Desi debuted a live act-a comic skit, some song and dance at the modest Ritz Theatre in Newburgh, N.Y.“The audience loved it,” proclaimed the local paper. Encouraged, the newlyweds went on to transform their lovebird lunacies into the show I Love Lucy, drawing audiences to the new medium that was TV. How cool is that.

Longisland, its not an odd question, but you tell me why it is odd? Telling me your age will tell me alot about you.
Longislandmovies…The question was: How old are you?

Very nice theater. Does anyone know if they still show a movie from time to time?
I have been to the Campus several times. I liked it better when Mrs. Steifel owned it.

Dave Bonan…the Cinema Center in Camp Hill is a 12 screen not 13
Looks like with some work it could be a nice place
A question for someone: Since the Boyd opened. How many owners has it had and what were their time spans when they own it?
