Haven’t visited this link in awhile and was surprised to relearn the existence of this theatre in Slippery Rock PA. It is a shame that this theatre burned as it would continue to be a nice addition to a quaint college PA town.
What is the current status of this theatre? And have learned through research that this theatre had a vertical blade sign that read CENTER though it doesn’t seem to appear in any recent photo. Anyone have additonal information about this?
raysson: Thanks for listing these engagements. 2016 is going to be a banner year for the long awaited Carolina Theatre to once again become a visual and viable presence in uptown Charlotte.
ncmark: This is wonderful news for those of us who love uptown Charlotte and all that it has to offer including the Blumenthal PAC and the Knight Center. To see a projected opening date of 2016 is “music to my ears”. Charlotte is not the only city to have lost an historical theatre(s) as I recall reading about a few in Nashville that should still be standing today. The Carolina Theatre building stands waiting to be rediscovered and given a rebirth. Thank you Bank of America for your pledge to kickstart the renovation of this important piece of Charlotte’s past.
This theatre is the current home of the I Love Lucy Live On Stage production. If you haven’t seen this show and you are in Boston….go! And if you haven’t ever been to the Lucy Comedy Festival in Jamestown NY….go! Jamestown is the birthplace of Lucille Ball, the First Lady of Comedy. www.lucy-desi.com

Don’t know the background to the original name, FARMAN though do love the unique curved marquee photo….not many theatres have or had curved marquees though the marquee on my former hometown theatre designed by Michael De Angelis was curved as the theatre was located on a corner in Westfield NY.
Pleased to see North Park on CT and do plan to visit this restored gem this summer.

Nice to learn that two chandeliers in the Des Peres Cinema are identified with a plaque on the wall…music to my ears!
Nice to know it is still intact since it is the original design by DeAngelis.
Do wish the photo with this theatre featured the Carrara glass exterior on a bright sunny day without the highway barrels.
So sad that this theatre has been closed yet again and this time due to back taxes.
