I cannot comprehend why the French film masterpiece “Forbidden Games” never played the Avon in or around its 1952 release. Boggles the mind. Never played first run anywhere in the Providence area.

“4 Devils” is a famously and sadly lost film.
Had opened previously at the Avon.
Had already played the Avon and the Empire in Providence.

In Providence at least, the better half of a double bill was at the bottom.
Not as well known as “Open City” and “Paisan” but a very strong movie from that era.

The Olneyville Theatre mentioned might have been the Royal.
