The final film was the peanuts movie, playing on all 5 screens
my sister told me it closed, had to check here,never liked cARMIKE…..

Robin, got the other night.I will have to remind her.She was really into the Theatres and I guess she still gets on just doesn’t run her mouth like we do,Glad Nick is back on.I have one inside picture of the Five plex,but it really doesn’t show much,just Zack, Me and Russell by the One sheet display. “FLETCH” was playing I can make out that One Sheet.Nick. I know would be glad to post them,My address is near the bottom of the Imperial posts,just send them to me I will get them to Nick.
Looks like we are on-line at the same time today.Wish I had a way to posts my photos I sent several to Robin unless she sends them back I will not have them anymore,oh well thats the way it goes.I did not take the photos but they were ones that I found in newspapers and such,have a great Sunday.Oh by the way I have a folder of somemore photos that I am saving and hope to get posted someday.Now back to Georgia Square to keep on topic.LOL.
Yes,that is the outside Cinemas.I worked inside the mall.In fact,they were planning the five plex when I quit.Tisloews.at the time I didn’t think anyone cared about movie theatres but me.LOL.We were heading to Jacksonville for the FLA/GA Game.Thanks Nick.Drop me a letter one day.Or call.

i sent Nick a Picture of Part of the theatre from the parking Lot.Silly me never thought OF GETTING THE WHOLE CINEMA in the Picture,He hasn’t put it on yet,sent him a ton of Pictures.

So the old Five plex outside is a Carmike Cinema.And a dollar theatre.I always thought General Cinema would around.Glad i check out in 83.
EVERYONE OF THE ABOVE POSTS concerns GEORGIA SQUARE MALL CINEMAS 1,2.3.4. . I never worked at the five plex outside. Craig Zacker was the first manager. He was the city manager there until he stood his ground when a district mgr. fired one of his friends working at GCC in Atlanta. Zacker said “To Hell with it,if that is the way this company is going to treat a decicated manager, I am out of here.” Craig Zacker walked out a man of his words and ran a horse camp in Athens until his untimely death.
It wasn’t too long GCC ,once a proud chain had gone BROKE.
Surprize of the evening my girlfriend and future wife pops in one evening unannounced.Just glad i was behaving myself with the girls at the theatre.I know she remembered REGENCY cause that is where we met.
I wish this site said GEORGIA SQUARE CINEMAS 1.2.3.4 instead of value cinemas it looses it historical value.
Friday night after the midnight shows Charles and I drive out to Mike’s {our relief Projectionist} for a Athens Party. IT was theatre folks and friends. And these theatre people DRINK just like my buddies with ABC THEATRES. Charles got so wasted i had to drag him out of the car and put him to bed. A first.
Saturday morning Charles had the mother of hangovers and could not work Saturday morning.We went in at 10am everyday with GCC. SO Zacker and myself had to get the place ready. Charles dogged in that evening. We all worked til 2am .
One thing i noticed quickly when i started working was there was NO ONE SHEETS from past movies.I asked some of staff and sure enough since the place had been open the posters hang in GEORGIA dorms,COLLEGE TOWN ! I had hoped to find a few gems.
I know several times kids asked me for one sheets ; I can count on my hand how many times i was asked for posters in Augusta.
WE had a 20 amp breaker go bad in one of the service panels.I told ZACK i could change a breaker and save the company a few bucks. He call a electrican from Athens.Total waste of money.
One thing about GEORGIA SQUARE is it is so much larger than REGENCY TRIPLE. We have a nice check out room. The stock room is twice the size as REGENCY and while the popcorn room at REGENCY seem to be in a closet the one here is nice enought,the employees have a desk to study since most all of them go to UGA.
At GEORGIA SQUARE we can keep all the drink cups in the stock room.At REGENCY we had to store some in the booth and that teed DRAY off alot. I think ZACK misses Chuck Dray.
