Concerning the dbellis54 picture from'22

Anybody know what year this picture was taken? Theater looks somewhat dingy and there are speakers above the box entrances. The 50s? 60s?

Pretty sure the Paramount was dead before Covid.

Events happen at the Kings all the time. I’d suggest following their social media pages if you want to see what’s going on.

The Kings (lobby and auditorium) is featured in the movie Joker. (The exteriors and bathroom were shot elsewhere.) It looks fantastic (as it does in real life — I was there with the THS tour this summer.)

The Daily News reported yesterday that Kings management has been experimenting with the presentation of “intimate” lounge acts in its vast lobby. On July 19th, comedian Ray Dejon performed before a sold-out crowd of 200 filling the space to capacity, according to the article displayed here

I went there last night. What a beautiful theater. So rich and grand. I spent half the afternoon just staring at the walls and ceiling. I don’t remember seeing it before the renovation. I took many pictures.

NEWS FLASH!!!!!!

THE KINGS THEATRE Management is about to take over their neighbor the Former FLATBUSH SAVINGS BANK when the bank ceases operations on December 19, 2018! The bank has been operated as an ASTORIA Savings Bank and more recently as FEDERAL SAVINGS BANK which took over Astoria in a merger. This tidbit hit my ears at 1:15 PM this afternoon. The bank is a landmark building but I don’t know if its' interior is (like the DIME SAVINGS BANK) in downtown. What will happen here is yet to be found out but let me take a guess, a BAR and eatery for folks who are already to line up for the evening show or after the show for drinks and light finger food. With their “B” grade at the theatre what grade would they recieve if it becomes that?

Anyway a BAR will not happen at the bank building because their is a bar on the corner of the next block called "BAR" and a fine restaurant called Delroy's just a few doors down on Duryea

St. which serves fine food and has a bar too! The KINGS already has seven BAR stations in the theatre besides its outdoor smoking area for shows now serves liquor and foods outdoors prior and to 12 Midnight during show days.

The neighborhood does not want any more BARS in this area and will fight all liquor licenses requests for this bank building! We won't be caught being prepared this time.
The greed for LIQOUR money must be stopped now before it starts to develope. And remember this is if it becomes a bar, but i can't see as anthing else.

“Required to lift and carry items 50 pounds or heavier, often up and down stairs”

Seems like this is the requirement that could disqualify many.

There is NOTHING wrong with requiring someone to speak more than one language. It makes you MORE valuable, not less.

Exactly when did you think that couldn’t be required in this country? You can also require the applicant to speak English AND Spanish.

WoW !! Have to speak English. Never read that before. Can you you really say that today? It’s about time.

Yes,it is my blood and thank you for your words. There are those who will stomp on you and try to wipe you out for credit. I don’t answer to them. I am true to myself and say what is the truth. I answer to my wisdon and knowledge. A theatre that has been in my life for over fifty years and I fought for with a “Breakfast with the Arts” episode in 2005 surely outweighs any management that operates and manages it. I was born way before them. They will never no the experince of seeing movies at the Loew’s Kings that I did. That experience comes once in a lifetime and what they have know is ten liquor bars in the space, that’s all they care about. The shows are for out-of-Brooklyners, who love the shows and the theatre. Otherwise the Kings Theatre does not serve the Brooklyn population and they (the locals) know it.

Orlando, sorry to hear this. I like you, have memories of some old theatres here in NJ. I am now the house projectionist at the Union County Arts Center, and I try to get more classic films in there. I am also trying to get equipment installed and running at the Brook Arts Center in Bound Brook. Lots of hurdles. Money. Management. But I will not give up. I, like you, have it in our blood.

John Gibson Whitely who had a bad experience at the Kings Theatre on April 9 has submitted one comment to cinema treasures on that date. He is obviously a phony, using a pyseudinum. Just click on his comment. I believe a jealous THS member associated to Loew’s Jersey posted this comment. The initials are S.T. He was in the audience that evening. I defended the staff and disclaim this frauds comment. I have resigned the Kings Theatre which I was involved in long before ACE was in the picture. While I enjoyed my two plus years there, I cannot condone the upper managements running of the theatre which I am still truly fond of. Byn the way, there was a building situation which cost $2,5000,000 to repair neglected by management which could have led to lose of life. I am glad that I put the lives of patrons and the staff above the pettiness of management. Now, after six months, management has banned me from the theatre even with a ticket. My efforts to save my Kings Theatre means much more that the management that runsit. Esta la vista!
