AMC seems to be closing bigger movies theaters. They’re more expensive to rent and maintain, so they’re the ones most likely to close. That and the smallest theaters that are too small and don’t make a significant profit.

Can’t believe the news that this place closed permanently. This was one of the nicest theaters around (when built). You’d think this one would survive and Creve Coeur 12 would not. I can’t remember the first movie I saw here but it was in 1997/1998. RIP.

On Monday, 11/5, 12 of the 16 screens are slated to reopen. The remainder in early January. There are two “brands” in the mix, 8 “Fork & Screen” and 8 “Cinema Suites”. Seating has been drastically reduced with new configuration sporting 29 to 80 seats each. In addition to the auditoriums a new bar will be in the main lobby, replacing the concession stand.

I saw The Way here on October 10th, 2011. The theatre wasn’t at all busy but I did enjoy the leg room (I don’t think I’ve ever been in a theatre with so much leg room). Really good movie too.

Very nice theater – one of the most impressive in the St. Louis area for now. This theater was the first all-stadium seating theater to come to St. Louis. Before this theater was built, only the largest screens at already existing theaters were converted into stadium seating.
