Chicago’s original Oriental Theater opened in 1911 in the Wicker Park neighborhood on W. North Avenue near N. Maplewood Avenue. It was listed in the Chicago Tribune’s movie directory until 1918. By the 1950’s, a tobacco store was operating at this location. Currently, the former theater is home to a gym.
