Old Sanborn Maps and Mountain Sun articles show the Dixie Theatre was in business from about 1918 to 1929.

The Mountain Sun looked back in July 1971 and noted that the Dixie Theatre had a dirt floor, wooden benches and a pot bellied stove.

In 1926, the Kerrville Amusement Co., owners of the Arcadia Theatre, retained T.C. Staley, local architect, to modernize the theatre. It was closed in 1929. The Mountain Sun reported in 1935 the former Dixie Theatre, closed for six years, was remodeled into shops.

The Dixie Theatre last appeared in Film Daily Year Book 1929 with 300 seats.
