I think the First movie that was show at this theater was Dr No. It might have been a double feature but don’t remember the second feature. Saw lots of other films here. Typically saw Every James Bond film and I remember seeing the Omega Man.
My earliest memory ( early 60’s) of the congress theater was that it was closed, and then I remember it opening as the Chinese restaurant, the house Of Gee. My mom and dad took me to eat there one night and I finally
got to see what it looked like inside.
Thanks for that answer, Next question can we get the address corected? with the error in address it makes it look like there is another theater a block away.
the theater pictured is located at 12615 Dixe Highway, Sixth ave is a good block away. I remeber seeing the last picture show here in 1972. I would like to know the correct name of the theater at that time if anyone knows.
I remember going here when I was about 6 years old. ( about 1961) They had a playground for kids.
I saw 2001 a space odyssey here in 1968. I think a saw a couple other films but don’t remember the titles. I remember it was nice looking inside
