That is really great that your family worked with my grandfather. I’m sure my dad or grandma would know who your family is. I’ll let them know about your post.
I havent seen too many movies at The Plaza. Well I guess if you see them at Plaza Frontenac you call them films. Either way it is a nice theater. My one proble with it is however is the fact that instead of giving you a ticket stub they give you a cheap receipt type of movie pass. Not at all something worth keeping. Other than that it is a pretty nice little theater. The last movie I saw there was “Match Point”. Good “film”
I never saw one movie in the Galleria theater however I played many a video game in the lobby. MANY video games. I remember one time in the early 90’s when a kid asked me and my friend if we had “two side quarters”. Looking my friend in the eye, I said “huh”. We later realized he wanted to know if we had .50 cents he could have. I had never heard anyone before or after that date ask me for “two side quarters”. They had some good games there to kill time while your parents were shopping though.
The Chesterfield Mall 4 Cine' was leveled around 2002. This was another good old theater. I cant say too much about this theater, I typically went to Chesterfield 6 when they were around. I did see all 3 Back to the Future movies here though. I am surprised that it didnt stick around longer, it seemed like a good location. I guess the newer theaters just got more traffic.
The Clarkson 6 Cine' has been leveled and in it’s location is now a pet store. I used to love going to that theater. It was a family tradition to fight the crowds and see a movie the day after Thanksgiving. Now we have the Galaxy 14 and they have just now built an AMC theater inside Chesterfield Mall.
The Stadium is one of a kind. It is everything that is good about small town America. I remember going as a child, and I have some great memories of it. I have heard it has since been reconditioned but that it still has that 1930’s feel. I hope The Stadium is around for another 75 years! Go check it out for yourself!!
