Pine Square did have it’s share of colorful characters. I remeber one guy who wore the same trench coat all summer long sat at Johnny Rockets everyday and told the managers he was god. One day he offered me a microwave from Jesus. Being a downtown location it captured the feel of downtown Long Beach at the time. The box office had a very poor design and remember the lines going a few city blocks when busy. But sad the theater opened and closed in less than 20 years. When it opened it was the first 16 plex in this part of the country
I had the nonor of being the closing House manager when the little closed. I actually got to open the Marina Pacifica 12 and close the Orange Mall 6 within a 3 month period..good times. I remember a crew from Florida carving up the theater and taking the seats and equipment to South America. The lobby had a huge hole in the floor and some guy walked thru this incredible mess and asked the memorable question. “What time is the first show of "Evita?”
thank you Lost memory..I on;y ran that theater for a few months but your picture was taken during that tenure..Very cool
