I never quite got wishing a building happy birthday. Given the girth of the building that houses the complex - where would you find a hat that fits?
How would the building blow out the candles on the cake?
$1,000,000 in 1977 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $4,917,689.77 today, an increase of $3,917,689.77 over 45 years. The dollar had an average inflation rate of 3.60% per year between 1977 and today, producing a cumulative price increase of 391.77%.
Curious if this stub from this venue as it’s only listed as “Loews Nassau”- other than pure greed what would make this ticket stub worth $199.99 (even though it’s marked down to 169.99 - such a bargain)
The Great Star has been continuing it’s live event presentations and will do so into the new year.
It will be hosting many of the events for the 20th anniversary of SF Sketchfest, including a live table read of Dana Gould’s interpretation of “Plan 9 from Outer Space”
Hmm. The above bio states that it was still open in 1957, then back in 2010 a poster informed that it’s now a 99 cent store. Here we are some 12 years later and no update. Pity that it’s going to be torn down, but that’s the Bay Area.
Ridley’s? Thought it was Ripley’s all of these years….
This haunted house experience is called “Terror” and will be in the space from Sept 29-Nov 6th.
Using 20,000 square feet of space, it must be using some areas of the former theatre and in typical Times Square promo way it claims
“Terror Haunted House is a combination of groundbreaking 4-D experience housed in an
authentically recreated haunted environment which produces the most Immersive Horror
experience to date. You will hear, see, smell, and feel the fear.”
Interesting. Do you have any further information on that?
A story I recall reading on that movie on Den of Geek stated -
“The Fantastic Four was scheduled to open on Labor Day weekend in 1993. It wasn’t to be. A January 1994 opening was floated, but never materialized, either.”
There’s no mention of Mall of America. What might you have ?
Having some open time before my appointment in Center City today, and seeing the Boyd, I went by the Roxy to check if any movement was made it. There was none, so I jumped on here for an update and see this befuddling question?
What is it about? What’s not clear in the description at the top of the page? What sort of information are you attempting to surmise?
in the place of the grand titles that played when this venue was the majestic Boyd theatre is now the word “BANKROLL” in a poorly designed font. White letters on a black background.
We’ll presume that’s the name of the next alleged tenant.
wrestling fans can get a look at this venue as it hosts New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Rumble on 44th Street" 10/28.
Tickets were priced at $39.50, $49.50, $69.50, $79.50, $99.50, $149.50, $199.50, $249.50, $349.50, and $499.50 for VIP Box seating with food service. There are very few tickets on sale for Rumble on 44th Street at this point, mostly from re-sellers who are charging upwards of $1,000 per seat.
The space that was the Biltmore is now part of the Dundas Square massive shopping complex, which includes the Cineplex of Yonge/Dundas, a Winners store, Dollarama, Jack Astors amongst others.
Some stores are on street level as well, so the Lids seems to line up where the Biltmore entrance was

never have I seen so many people walk out as I did at a screening I attended a few years back.

Rudy’s got bigger problems anymore than closing down some adult theatres….
