The remains of the street sign can be seen on the 2009 Google st view, along with the entry/exit gates. The site is now houses.

Was opened by Ted Frazer and operated by him for its entire life, the name comes from Ted’s daughter Gay who passed away aged 2. Lots of info on this page:

2019 update: now appears to be sub-divided with 3 houses built so far on the site.

All that’s left is the exit road driveway (and gate?), the rest of the site is completely demolished.

This is an interesting one, looks like its now a private residence with the concession building turned into a house. The screen and ramps appear to be still there along with the ticket box which looks like it was turned into a house for some kind of animals, maybe chickens? Also as mentioned, the screen looks in good condition, that’s one hell of a backyard movie setup, I wonder if they use it?

The site appears to be vacant, tree’s have taken over – some of the ramps can still be seen on google maps.

Site has been redeveloped into housing, looks like everything has gone except for the exit road (and gates?) and some trees in the north west corner.

The screen was either torn down or fell down in late 2012/early 2013, its there in August 2012 but looks like its face down on the ground in April 2013. The ramps and Concession building are still there, a few trees have grown around the concession building. The site hasn’t been demolished as described above.

Looks like it was turned into a go-kart track (when the screen was still there)and now its been redeveloped into an industrial/factory site.

There was talk about rebuilding this drive-in back in 2013, it looks like the owner of the land cleared it because he wanted to build a caravan park but it fell through, check out this article:

I’ve also added some photos I’ve found and given credit to the sources.

Appeared to be the site of Boyds Bay Garden World until 19/10/2018 when they ceased operations.

Lets clear this up, the street view from 2007 shows the site before redevelopment – the entry and exit driveways are still there, there’s a “for lease” sign on the fence. The October 2015 street view shows its been turned into an industrial estate with huge factory buildings on the site.

Address is 7 Majors Road, driveway still exists along with the fence. As far as the actual site, only the screen seems to be left – it can be seen from the road on Google Street view in 2015, the rest is overgrown.

Looks like its now the home of Oakey Soccer Club, there is a couple of soccer pitches where the ramps were and the old diner with bio box on the roof is their club rooms.

Looks like it was subdivided into about 2 or 3 blocks, as mentioned ticket booth remains in the drive way of a house built on the land. Also the original drive way, front fence and even remains of the sign were still there in 2014 on Google Street view.

The original entrance driveway somewhat remains, its been turned into a walking track from the road into the estate.

kennerado commented about Skyline Drive-In on Sep 16, 2019 at 12:17 am

The original ticket box and entrance road STILL exist on McComas Grove! The ticket box has been gutted and turned into a shelter with park benches underneath, the entrance road is blocked off from the street and goes up to what’s left of the ticket box.

It now appears to be a housing estate appropriately called Swan Lake Drive.

The school that was built on the site, Vista Middle School appears to have a tribute to the drive-in with its logo of a cowboy on a horse.

The ticket box is at a side entrance on Faraday St, it can be seen on Google street view. Also I’m assuming the toilets/snack bar are in the town hall which appears to share the property. What a cool looking little drive-in!

I saw many movies here as a kid, I saw my first movie “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” at this cinema. I also saw “Mortal Kombat” here and it was packed out with a line of people going outside the building.

One interesting feature I remember was inside the foyer there was this cool light structure in the ceiling. It was an inverted dome that was multi-coloured and would cycle through different colours.
