As well as promoting “Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?”, by making an appearance on the RKO 86th Street Theatre stage, Bette Davis visited Andy Williams and sang the theme song.
“Sweet Charity” ended it’s Roadshow Engagement here July 17, 1969. It didn’t go into general release until October 10, 1969 as the ad says, “Direct From It’s Reserved Seat Broadway Engagement” even though the Rivoli engagement ended August 5, 1969.
When you entered the Palace on Broadway you were in a long outer lobby and box office. That will now be retail. The theater will be raised up to the third floor of the new construction so there was no place to have the entrance on Broadway. New construction of an entrance on 47th Street with an 80-foot-long marquee, will lead up to the third floor like the Marquis across the street.
No, at the Chiller autograph show in Jersey. In fact Ann-Margret was very interested in it and put on her glasses and looked it over front and back. She was very cool.
The Twilight Time “Bye Bye Birdie” was limited to 3000 copies. I got to meet and have it signed by Ann-Margret and Bobbie Rydell. I’ll be picking up the new Columbia edition too. Wonder if it’s the same source.
Terrific article MSC77 thanks. I never like how some films are placed firmly in the Blaxploitation genre. Blaxploitation is automatically thought of as low budget, B or less movies, making them seem less than. I never considered “Shaft” in that category and I’ll add “Blacula” to that list. Yes, they are low budget but they are really really good films and wildly entertaining. “Shaft” has great work from Gordan Parks, Richard Roundtree and Issac Hayes earning his Oscar. While “Blacula” had laughs, camp, the amazing William Marshall and at times is genuinely creepy. Of course both were successful enough to earn sequels.
You’re right V, August 16, 1967, thanks.

As a kid, I never got the term “Popular Prices”. While a Roadshow Engagement was prestigious, their prices must be unpopular.
