Are there any pictures of original Crest auditorium still around? The light fixtures are being used in later small theatres in complex I think. They always used a curtain in the day. Started seeing films there often from 1955+. Then there was competition with the bigger Northgate, Alderwood multiplex and Aurora Village multiplex and of course the Lynn theatre. Remember those?
Beautiful large elaborate theatre. Historic and should be saved. They never build them this great anymore. New large auditoriums look like warehouses with seats these days. Multiplex theatres are cookie cutter spaces.
This ceiling design is very impressive as are walls. For another impressive chinese theatre interior one might check out the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle WA. Also restored to its original greatness. One of the most beautiful theatres in the world.
This show was at The Paramount a couple times I think. This theatre is still used all the time for the biggest and brightest Broadway shows and famous name concerts. Has been restored and has a newer stage addition that can hold the largest productions. An elaborate French style interior. Dates back to later 1920’s.
Yes the Music Box indeed had a massive wide screen. The original proscenium must have been changed to fit it out. I saw Days Of Heaven also at the Cinerama in a Cinerama style film process or a special lense that was also dramatic. What a great visual treat that film is when viewed that way. Must have been great at The Music Box.
The Blue Mouse had a very large cinemascope type screen and great stereo sound. I saw many films there including The Bounty with Brando and Yellow Submarine. I believe My Fair Lady was at the Music Box. Also had large screen. Both theatres played the biggest first run films in Seattle often. They were fitted out with the biggest screens and the best sound. Blue Mouse was the first sound theatre in Seattle I read.
An Art Deco masterpiece and the tower a beacon for the neighborhood. Too bad it is also history. The box-like replacement is a snoozer. A charming area. Needs another stylish theatre to replace the Green Lake.
I saw 2001 at the Cinerama in Seattle in Cinerama in it’s original run. Great of course. I may have played the UA 150 too at some point later. Blade Runner played the Cinerama orginally too I think but it also played the 150 later on. Years later as I saw it there too. I also saw it years later at the Cinerama with a spacial lense that looked like Cinerama process. Wow. In the 80’s. Nice the Cinerama is still alive. UA 150 should be too. Downtown losing its soul.

I liked the King. Saw The Great Gatsby, Sophies Choice and Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind there in the day. Well designed and every seat a good one. Not as big screen as the fantastic UA 150 across the street but worthy anyway. That was one of the best ever. Too bad they are both history.
Also wish the tall C sign and original marquee would be used again. Very funky. It used to light up the area for blocks. Dark neighborhood.

Palm trees should always grace this famous courtyard. And less signage like in this picture. Beautiful!
Looks elaborate and distinctive. Arched window are beautiful.

Art Deco marquee us handsome. Brick work too.
Elegant facade. Marquee must have been great too.
Great terracotta and window. Leaded and elaborate. Marquee is beautiful too.
Classic marquee and cool selection of films. Christine the Plymouth Fury parked in front. Maybe the next film. LOL.
Are they cleaning the surface to reopen this beautiful theatre? Hope so.

Art Deco masterpiece. A tragedy it was taken down. Marquee and signage is classic and beautiful.

Yes kind of Art Moderne. Marquee is unusual. Looks large as a theatre. Would like to see interior.

Egyptian is now Rite Aid Drugs I think. Building was not demolished. Only ruined. Should have been saved.
One of the most elaborate and beautiful theatres on the planet. Hope it is around a lot longer.
What a handsome facade. Art Deco masterpiece. Marquee is great. Would like to see interior.
Love the vintage tile look and art deco doors. Box office is handsome too.
