UC Santa Barbara looking for prints
Hello. I run the new University of California at Santa Barbara Pollock Theater.
I am looking for 35mm Prints. These prints would be used for classroom screenings and training of students.
I am looking for anything you have. I have a soft spot for 80’s movies. But I am open to anything and I would love Oscar level movies, in addition to 80’s movies.

Cricket Theatre restoration
COLLINSVILLE, AL — The Historic Cricket Theatre was recently purchased by The Collinsville Historic Association. A major restoration process is now underway.The Annual Collinsville Quilt Walk Sept 24 & 25, 2010 will feature progress tours of the restoration. The Annual Collinsville Turkey Trot Nov 13, 2010 will be a major event this year with proceeds going to fund the restoration of The Cricket Theatre.
The New Collinsville Library was the first restoration project for the town beginning in 2002, with completion and opening in 2009. Updates can be viewed on Collinsville Alabama Net. All donations can be accepted through The Collinsville Historic Association, PO Box 849, Collinsville, AL 35961.

Looking for sound system
I need a sound system. I have a 298 theater seat newly built private donor theater in Santa Barbara(Pollock Theater). I need sound equipment. surround speakers. I am currently pricing a new JBL sound system. I would prefer used equipment. speakers, etc. Klipsich, jbl or any model you might have.
Anyone looking to unload sound, speakers? I just need good quality.

Columbia City Cinema needs your help
SEATTLE, WA — I didn’t even know the Columbia City Cinema was in trouble. Was passing by and saw a flyer in the window describing some financial difficulties due to some bad business dealings (seemingly not entirely their fault). Great community-oriented neighborhood theatre that could use your patronage. Seems like they are in the clear for summer, but still could be some rough seas ahead.

Local community moves to keep the Milwaukee’s Modjeska operating
MILWAUKEE, WI — The 1924 Rapp & Rapp-designed Modjeska Theater is in need of helping hands and the community is responding. Most recently home to a now-defunct youth theater, community leaders are looking for ways to keep the theater going, including possibly a return to the showing of motion pictures.
“Unfortunately, over the years, revenue from ticket sales, donations and grants has not been enough to meet rising operations and building expenses,” the theater board said in a statement that announced its closing.
“We just couldn’t keep operating in this economic climate,” said Michael Dwyer, vice president of the youth theater board. “We had an operating deficit and no confidence we could raise enough money to both meet the deficit and continue to put on productions.”

Mack Theatre renovation
IRVINE KY — The historic Mack Theatre was an intricate part of many peoples lives in Irvine, KY. Unfortunately the once popular movie theatre has not been functioning for more than 20 years and is currently being used as a storage facility. Nonetheless it has an excellent location and can once again be a pillar for the community.
The early stages of the renovation are underway, but we need estimates on all relevant material. We are also willing to accept any donated material. Please help the community of Irvine, KY.

Saved from fire, Hemet Theatre in need of restoration funds
HEMET, CA — The 1921 single-screen Hemet Theatre, which was saved in January from a fire that destroyed three next door businesses, is closed and its re-opening likely to be delayed for quite some time. Fund-raising events are in progress, and the owner is selling his vintage film poster collection.
The single-screen movie house on Florida Avenue in downtown Hemet suffered smoke and water damage in the Jan. 20 fire that destroyed three adjacent businesses. The concrete used in its construction in 1921 prevented the flames from consuming the theater, but the screen and many of the seats were damaged.
A second fundraiser to benefit the theater is planned for May 16 at Sweet Baby Janes, a barbecue restaurant at 124 S. Harvard St. in Hemet. The restaurant donated 30 percent of its proceeds from a fundraiser in March to the effort to restore the theater.

Need transportation help ASAP for salvaged historic screen
TUCSON, AZ — A non-profit organization has been able to save a historic screen from the closed DeAnza Drive-In (formerly Cactus Drive-In started in 1951) and needs transportation help to relocate the dismantled screen to a storage location. They are working with city government officials and supportive businesses and a neighborhood organization to secure a new location for a walk-in, bike-in, drive-in location in Tucson. We hope to enable future generations of Tucsonans to have the “drive-in” experience. The screen has been dismantled and we are in need of a transporter to haul the pieces to a storage location until we get the new property secured and prepared. This is a recent news story about the situation.
